So I haven't been blogging for quite a while. I figured a lot has changed over the last few years, so I have gotten rid of all the old posts. I am now working in the field of property management as an Asset Manager for a company based in Greenville, SC.
I have been in the field since April of 2010. I always wanted to be in real estate, but wasn't sure where I'd fit. The best thing about property management in terms of stability is that you get a base salary from the management of your portfolio while maintaining the right to earn commissions through leasing space at your properties.
The focus of our firm is retail shopping centers. I am responsible for 23 properties in total, which stretch from Knoxville, TN to Charleston, SC. The square footage figure for these centers is 1,030,000+, and I work with 150+ tenants as well as many countless other vendors and subcontractors.
Property Management is a great field for anyone interested in legal and accounting issues. You definitely need to be a people person as you are always talking with someone new. More to come regarding the pros and cons of the business so please check back often.
